The Tale of Two Pickle Legends - The Starving Civil War Soldier Who begged a prison guard for food and like some miracle was given a pickle which saved him from starvation, thus the tradition was born when the soldier returned home he hung a pickle on the tree every year.
The Grim Brothers Style Saint Nicholas The tale is that an evil innkeeper trapped two boys inside a barrel of pickles. St. Nicholas found the boys and freed them. The boys were able to make it home for Christmas dinner.
